Chile

Hoteles

The special country of Chile is located in the southern cone of South America. In the north of Chile are the most barren deserts in the world, while in the east the Andes, one of the greatest mountain ranges on the planet, reach its highest heights. In the west resides the gigantic Pacific Ocean and in the South, Arctic Ice.

Continental Chile is a long and narrow strip of land that extends from 18°S to 56°S parallel, a distance equivalent to more than 10% of the Earth's perimeter. There exists no other country as long and as narrow, with only an average of 140km (approximately 87 miles) in width.

With a population of approximately 15 million inhabitants that are concentrated in the center of the country, the extreme ends of Chile are sparsely inhabited and uncultivated. Here there are national parks and protected wildlife areas that account for 19% of Chile's land mass. Due to the length of the country, Chile's climate and landscape varies tremendously from north to south. In the north is the most barren desert in the world and further south the desert begins to bloom. The agricultural heart of Chile is located here and even further south  exists beautiful prairies and forests. Always in the background of the prairies and forests is the snow-capped mountain range of the Andes. However, it is in its width where Chile provides its best surprises. A cross-section of the country shows to the west an oceanic coast along with a coastal mountain range later followed by an intermediate valley and ending with the high heights of the Andes. Chile has a diverse geography that has something to offer everyone.
