Concepcion is the capital city of the Eighth Region and is located in the central part of Chile, near de Pacific Ocean, some 500 km to the south of Santiago. The Region is identified with the hydrographic basi of the Bío-Bío River, the second most important in the country with a population of nearly 2.000.000 inhabitants and a surface area of 37.000 square km.

The climate is characterized by well-defined seasons with a warm summer ad a cold winter. The temperatures vary from 0 to 28ºC throughout the year.

The Region exports many of the products from its outstanding forestry, fishing, steel, petrochemical, manufacturing and agricultural.
