I was born in
Santiago de Cali-Colombia. I started my academic formation at "Colegio
Americano" in 1976. My favorites sports are Soccer, Voley Ball,
Basket Ball and Scuba Diving. I represented my College in the inter-colleges
Voley Ball championship of Cali City between 1984-1987. From 1987
to 1988 I fulfilled the national duty to support my country in the
Colombian Army. I began the university studies of Marine Biology
in the Faculty of Biology at University of Valle in 1988. I completed
the academic curriculum in 1992 and I finished the undergrade thesis
work in 1995. I began the Doctoral in Oceanography program in the
Department of Oceanography, University of Concepcion in 1997. I
enjoy traveling and I has been in all Andes Countries (Venezuela,
Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile). Besides, I has been
in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and USA too. Furthermore, I am a faithful
fans of Deportivo Cali
soccer team
My current research
program involves a study of morphology and physiology variations
of Calanus chilensis in the near-coast upwelling zone of Mejillones
Peninsula -Northern Chile. The analysis of these variations are
divided into two sections: a field factorial experiment of C. chilensis
responses (Prosome length, Dry-Weight and Reproductive Index) to
upwelling waters effects (temperature and chlorophyll-a mainly);
and analysis of spatial variation of C.
chilensis population and
body-characteristics on the upwelling area. The oceanic measurements
shown two basics groups: Physical measures in the water column such
as temperature, salinity, density, e.t.c which scale according to
upwelling events, and biological measures such Chlorophyll-a and
copepods from upwelling scaling regimen.
Besides, I am
interesting in the study of the relationship between seabirds and
oceanographic conditions of eastern pacific tropical. These research
program involves seabirds survives in two Colombian islands of the
Pacific Ocean, Gorgona and Malpelo. Furthermore, I am involving
in the Neotropical shorebirds migratory research at CALIDRIS association.
