Foreword

FORAMS 2014, the International Symposium on Foraminifera, will be held in Concepcion, Chile, from January 19 through January 24, 2014. The Symposium will be held in the University of Concepcion, Chile.
The University of Concepcion is the third oldest university in Chile and one of the most prestigious in the country. It was the first University founded in the south of Chile and forms part of the Council of Rectors and the Southern Cross University Network (Red Universitaria Cruz del Sur).
The Main Campus is located at Concepcion’s University City, with additional campuses in Chillán and Los Angeles. The Main Campus extends over 1.400.000 sq.mt. and comprehends extensive green areas, sculptures and museums. It is a center for knowledge, sciences, technology and research in Concepcion. In 2012, the University was acknowledged as one of the most important architectural pieces of the first half of the 20th Century. For more information please click here

The International Symposium on Foraminifera FORAMS 2014 continues the tradition of the highly successful meetings previously held in Halifax (Benthos'75), Pau (Benthos'81), Geneva (Benthos'86), Sendai (Benthos'90), Berkeley (Forams'94), Monterrey (Forams'98), Perth (Forams 2002), Natal (Forams 2006) and Bonn (Forams 2010).
During the last Forams 2010 in Bonn, Germany, the general assembly decided to hold the next meeting, Forams 2014, in Concepcion, Chile.

The Main Campus at the University of Concepcion has a large auditorium and a number of lectures rooms forming an ideal setting for the meeting. Because the conference will be held in University buildings, we will be able to keep costs reasonably low. One of our main goals is to keep the conference fees as low as possible.
It is with great pleasure and honor that Concepcion hosts this important scientific event, which will certainly contribute to spread the knowledge and science among all countries represented.
We look forward to welcoming you in Concepcion!
