Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

The manuscript must have a maximum of 8000 words (5000 for Case of Study and Literature Reviews) and must be written in double space and on letter-sized pages. The text and references must be duly verified before being sent in MS WORD format. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the document is written in the style of the journal, and suitable in both syntax and grammar. The manuscript should be divided into section headings, written in English or Spanish and with lines numbered continuously from the first page (title page). See RAN manuscript example.

Title page: The first page must contain: full title, affiliation and full address of the authors, no more than 200 words abstract, the name and postal address of each author. Additionally, the correspondent author's e-mail must be included.

Regular pages: The pages that follow the title page must contain only the title of the article and the body of the manuscript. Tables and figures should be located at the end of the document (outside the body of the document). The names of the authors are only on the title page.

Printproof: The printing tests will be sent electronically to the correspondent author for review. These corrections must be reviewed and re-sent to the editor, by the correspondent author, within the following 48 hours from its reception. In case these deadlines are not met, the article will be published in the later edition.

Permissions: Permission to publish illustrations must be obtained by the author before submitting the article for review, and any acknowledgment must be incorporated in the footnote of the figure.

Title: Initial capital letter, in bold, aligned to the left and in size 14.

Group of authors: Times New Roman font, no bold, size 11. Adding "and" before the last author. Both surnames should be included, if applicable. Alignment to the left.

Affiliation: Italic, without bold, mentioning the institution and department, the postal address with city and country. At the end add the email. Times New Roman font, size 10.

Abstract: Aligned to the left, Times New Roman font, in a single paragraph. If the abstract presents any quotation or reference it should only be abbreviated. The abstract length is 200 words maximum. It must be written in Spanish and English.

Keywords: Add 3 to 5 keywords, which are not already in the title of the article. Both in Spanish and English.

References: The APA standard, 6th edition 2010, should be used. The Reference section should be arranged alphabetically. It is recommended to use reference managers (eg. Mendeley, Zotero, etc.). The list of references should not be numbered or bulleted. If more than one of the articles was published in the same year, a letter should be added after the year to identify the reference (e.g., 2005a,b). Multi-authored works should list the first ten authors followed by “et al.”.

Tables: The tables must be numbered in Arabic according to the order of appearance in the text. The title should be added at the top, in bold, Times New Roman font, size 11 and aligned to the left. The source of information should be included in the lower part. Do not use colors and shows only relevant values for interpretation.

Figures: The figures or images must, as long as possible, have a white background. Avoid colors in lines and bars. They should not be shaded and avoid any unnecessary graphic effect, since the printing of the article is done in grayscale. Numbered in Arabic, Times New Roman font, size 11. The title should be included in the upper part while the source of information should be included in the lower part. Title aligned to the left. Figure aligned to the left. The figures must have quality of 300 dpi in PNG or TIFF format. If the figure comes from another source, its quality must be ensured when it is incorporated into the manuscript.

About text of the article:

The text of the article should contain the following sections:


The introduction should contain sufficient background information about the work to allow it to be placed in the context of other research and to allow the reader to understand the relevance, proposed objectives and evaluation of the results. The introduction should conclude with one or two sentences that define the objectives and the essence of the article.

Material and methods

Sufficient information should be provided to enable experiments to be repeated. For routine methods, a brief description and literature reference will be enough. New methods must be described in detail.


In general, this section should not include literature references; it should only describe the results of the procedures. Interpretations of the experimental data should be reserved for the Discussion section. The explanations provided in the figure and table captions should not be repeated in the text.


The discussion should not be limited to describe experimental results and drawing conclusions; it should also be analytical and interpretative and should establish an association between the results obtained and other published works. The discussion may describe conflicting opinions and the results of other authors and indicate the value of these results for future works. This section should conclude with a few sentences that summarize the most relevant conclusions and implications. Conclusions do not contain references or enumerated/bulleted paragraphs, but provide a brief and precise summary of the most important findings of the work, their limitations, importance and future research needs. Avoid combining the Results and Discussion sections into a single section.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration by any other journal (or has provided an explanation in the Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in, Microsoft Word, RTF or another editable format (not PDF). At the moment we do not accept documents in LaTeX format.
  3. The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest on the subject under investigation.
  4. The authors declare that their document has no plagiarism of any kind (The document will also be submitted to a review process by DOCODE).
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the author' Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.
